हरि अवतार हेतु जेहि होई । इदमित्थं कहि जाइ न सोई ⁠।⁠।

O Parvati! Listen, the Vedas and scriptures have sung the beautiful, detailed, and pure characters of Sri Hari. The reason behind Sri Hari avatars cannot be defined as ‘this is it’ because there can be many reasons which cannot be even comprehended by one’s material intellect

According to a story from Bhagavata Purana, the Four Kumaras, Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara, who are the manasaputras (mind-born children) of Brahma, visit Vaikuntha, the abode of Vishnu, to see him.

भागवत पुराण की एक कहानी के अनुसार, चार कुमार, सनक, सनन्दन, सनातन और सनतकुमार, जो ब्रह्मा के मानसपुत्र (मन से जन्मे बच्चे) हैं, उन्हें देखने के लिए विष्णु के निवास स्थान वैकुंठ जाते हैं।

Due to the strength of their tapas, the four Kumaras appear to be mere children. Jaya and Vijaya, the gatekeepers of the Vaikuntha stop the Kumaras at the gate, thinking them to be children,  telling them that lord Vishnu is resting so they cannot see him now.

अपने तप के बल के कारण चारों कुमार मात्र बालक प्रतीत होते हैं। वैकुंठ के द्वारपाल जया और विजया, कुमारों को बच्चे समझकर द्वार पर रोकते हैं और उन्हें बताते हैं कि भगवान विष्णु आराम कर रहे हैं इसलिए वे अब उन्हें नहीं देख सकते।

Upset Kumaras curse them to be born on earth, where they would have to overcome the flaws of lust, anger, and greed, and then be purified. When Vishnu appears before them, and both requested lord Vishnu to cleanse their curse by the Kumaras.

परेशान कुमारों ने उन्हें पृथ्वी पर जन्म लेने का श्राप दिया, जहां उन्हें काम, क्रोध और लालच के दोषों पर काबू पाना होगा और फिर शुद्ध होना होगा। जब विष्णु उनके सामने प्रकट हुए, और दोनों ने भगवान विष्णु से कुमारों द्वारा उनके श्राप को शुद्ध करने का अनुरोध किया।

Lord Vishnu said that the curse can not be reversed however gave Jaya and Vijaya two options. The first option is to take seven births on earth as devotees of Vishnu
While the second is to take three births as his staunch enemies. After serving either of these sentences, they can re-attain their stature at Vaikuntha and be with him permanently.

भगवान विष्णु ने कहा कि श्राप वापस नहीं लिया जा सकता, हालाँकि उन्होंने जया और विजया को दो विकल्प दिए। पहला विकल्प है पृथ्वी पर सात जन्म विष्णु के भक्त के रूप में लेना जबकि दूसरा है तीन जन्म उनके कट्टर शत्रु के रूप में लेना। इनमें से किसी भी सजा को पूरा करने के बाद, वे वैकुंठ में अपना कद फिर से प्राप्त कर सकते हैं और स्थायी रूप से उनके साथ रह सकते हैं।

The mere thought of staying away from their Lord for seven births, forced Jaya and Vijaya to choose to later option. As his enemies, the deity would have to incarnate on earth 3 times to vanquish them. Thus, they would meet him in each of their births. As a result, they choose to be born three times on earth, even though it would have to be as enemies of Vishnu.

सात जन्मों तक अपने भगवान से दूर रहने के विचार मात्र ने जया और विजया को बाद का विकल्प चुनने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया। अपने शत्रुओं के रूप में, देवता को उन्हें हराने के लिए 3 बार पृथ्वी पर अवतार लेना होगा। इस प्रकार, वे अपने प्रत्येक जन्म में उनसे मिलेंगे। परिणामस्वरूप, उन्होंने पृथ्वी पर तीन बार जन्म लेना चुना, भले ही इसके लिए उन्हें विष्णु के शत्रु के रूप में जन्म लेना पड़ा।

They were incarnated as Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha in the Satya Yuga, Ravana and Kumbhakarna in the Treta Yuga, and finally Shishupala and Dantavakra in the Dvapara Yuga.

वे सत्य युग में हिरण्यकश्यप और हिरण्याक्ष, त्रेता युग में रावण और कुंभकर्ण और अंततः द्वापर युग में शिशुपाल और दंतवक्र के रूप में अवतरित हुए।

The strengths of Jaya and Vijaya gradually declined with each subsequent birth due to the yuga effect. In their first birth, they are born as asuras who captured and ruled the earth individually. In their second birth, they are born as rakshasas ruling merely a region on earth. In the third birth, they are born as humans in Krishna's extended family itself.

युग प्रभाव के कारण प्रत्येक अगले जन्म के साथ जया और विजया की शक्तियां धीरे-धीरे कम होती गईं। अपने पहले जन्म में, वे असुरों के रूप में पैदा हुए जिन्होंने पृथ्वी पर व्यक्तिगत रूप से कब्ज़ा किया और शासन किया। अपने दूसरे जन्म में, वे पृथ्वी पर केवल एक क्षेत्र पर शासन करने वाले राक्षस के रूप में पैदा होते हैं। तीसरे जन्म में वे कृष्ण के विस्तृत परिवार में ही मनुष्य के रूप में जन्म लेते हैं।

Lord Vishnu incarnated as two avatars in the Satya Yuga to kill Hiranyaksha (Varaha) and Hiranyakashipu (Narasimha).

सत्ययुग में हिरण्याक्ष (वराह) और हिरण्यकशिपु (नरसिम्हा) को मारने के लिए भगवान विष्णु ने दो अवतारों के रूप में अवतार लिया।

Born as Lord Rama in the Treta Yuga, he was able to vanquish both Ravana and Kumbhakarna.

त्रेता युग में भगवान राम के रूप में जन्मे, वह रावण और कुंभकर्ण दोनों को परास्त करने में सक्षम थे।

In the Krishna avatar during the Dvapara Yuga, the killing of Dantavakra and Shishupala (not even the purpose of the avatar, but rather to reduce the burden on Bhumi due to too many sinners and unrighteous people).

द्वापर युग के दौरान कृष्ण अवतार में दंतवक्र और शिशुपाल का वध (अवतार का उद्देश्य भी नहीं था, बल्कि बहुत सारे पापियों और अधर्मी लोगों के कारण भूमि पर बोझ को कम करना था)।
